As a company providing professional valuation and property sustainability assessment services, QHOME is committed to minimising the environmental impact of its own operations and to incorporating relevant environmental and climate-related considerations into the services we provide to our clients.

We seek to support informed decision-making by providing reliable, transparent and evidence-based information on the environmental performance and physical climate risks associated with buildings and properties.

2. Environmental Considerations in Our Services

Environmental sustainability and climate resilience form an important part of QHOME’s approach to the assessment of real estate. Where relevant to the scope of an assignment, we consider:

  • Energy performance and efficiency – assessment of building energy performance, including the use of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and other relevant information.
  • Carbon footprint – assessment or estimation of the CO₂ footprint of buildings, based on available and reliable data and appropriate methodologies.
  • Physical climate and natural-hazard risks – assessment of property exposure to relevant hazards, including flooding, extreme heat, drought, wildfires, storms, landslides, earthquakes and other location-specific natural hazards.
  • Climate resilience – consideration of how changing climatic conditions and environmental risks may affect a property’s condition, usability, operating costs, resilience and long-term value.
  • Environmental improvement potential – where appropriate, identification of opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and enhance the resilience of buildings.
  • Data quality and transparency – clear distinction between verified data, client-provided information, estimates, assumptions and limitations.

QHOME will apply appropriate and proportionate methodologies and will seek to align its assessments with applicable legislation, professional standards, recognised methodologies, reliable data sources and evolving good practice.

Environmental and climate-related assessments are presented as professional analyses within the agreed scope of each assignment and do not constitute a guarantee of future property performance or value.

3. Environmental Impact of Our Operations

QHOME is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its own activities through practical and proportionate measures, including:

  • prioritising digital documentation, communication and reporting and reducing unnecessary paper consumption;
  • reducing unnecessary business travel and using remote meetings where appropriate;
  • favouring energy-efficient practices and responsible use of electricity, heating, cooling and other resources;
  • encouraging responsible use, reuse and recycling of office equipment and materials;
  • considering environmental criteria when selecting suppliers and service providers, where practical; and
  • promoting environmental awareness and responsible practices among employees and collaborators.

4. Compliance and Continuous Improvement

QHOME is committed to complying with applicable environmental legislation and other relevant requirements.

We recognise that climate science, environmental regulation, data availability and market expectations continue to evolve. Accordingly, we will periodically review this Policy, our operational practices and our assessment methodologies and will seek opportunities for continuous improvement.

Where appropriate, QHOME will establish measurable environmental objectives and indicators relating both to the environmental impact of its operations and to the quality and development of its sustainability and climate-risk assessment services.

5. Responsibility

All employees and contractors are expected to support the objectives of this Policy, apply environmentally responsible practices within their areas of responsibility, and contribute to the continuous improvement of QHOME’s environmental performance and services.
